Details
Knowing that God has blessed us by calling us into relationship with Him through Jesus Christ, we seek to glorify God and make Jesus known by giving our time, energy and talents to serve and be a blessing to others. We find that as we serve in this way, we experience great joy from the Lord as we work beside friends, both new and old. "So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith." Galatians 6:10 (ESV) Having recreational vehicles allows us to serve in a unique way, being able to "move into" an area to serve without placing a burden on the ministries or communities we are trying to help.
How is a service trip structured?
Each service opportunity usually lasts at least one week and is organized around several RVs gathering together in a camping area at or near the ministry or community being served. We usually begin the day with a short devotional and prayer time and then work from 9a-4p with an hour and a half for lunch. We take breaks during the day and even adjust work times as conditions require, encouraging everyone not to be tempted to work beyond their physical ability. We try to have the evening meal together and then enjoy some fellowship time afterward. Each service location is different, so the daily schedule will flex to meet the needs of that ministry.
Where do we serve?
We regularly serve at PCA related camping ministries including Ridge Haven in Brevard, NC and Cono, IA, along with Camp Westminster in Conyers, GA. These locations typically offer full hookup campsites and the ability to create a group meeting and shared meal area. Any type of self-contained RV is appropriate and welcome.
What type of work is done?
The services we provide include light construction, carpentry, grounds work, general maintenance, painting, debris removal, housekeeping, meal preparation and more. Specialized skills such as electrical or plumbing are always valuable. Even if you do not consider yourself skilled in any of these areas, with a servant’s heart you can still contribute, be a blessing and receive a blessing. We welcome adult volunteers of all ages. Though most of our volunteers are retired, working age folks with RVs can find great joy and satisfaction in donating vacation time to serve as well.
Testimonials
“We look forward to the RV Ministries throughout the year. It is a time to fellowship with like minded believers, work on projects to help serve others, and meet new couples as well as catch up with ones we have worked with before. It is also a time to share our thoughts on what we believe, a time to grow in the faith, grow in grace, and challenge ones self”
“It has been our privilege and blessing to serve with the MNA RV Ministry for several years. We enjoy traveling and we love the PCA, so working with brothers and sisters in Christ at MNA projects is a double blessing for us. We trust our Lord to use our efforts to advance His Kingdom and it gives us the feeling we are storing up treasure in heaven”
“When we first learned about the RV Ministry, we knew we wanted to be a part of it - even though we didn’t have an RV - so we bought one and started volunteering at Ridge Haven. What a blessing that decision has been. The work is rewarding knowing that we are helping Ridge Haven in their ministry to all who attend. We have met some special people and made life-long friends. We work together and have sweet fellowship around dinner and sometimes around a fire. We have laughed and cried and prayed for each other. We have been blessed, uplifted and challenged by the unselfishness and faith of others. We have also had opportunity to serve at Camp Westminster and the Warehouse. So many chances to serve!”
“What a privilege it has been this week to work side-by-side with men and women who love the Lord. The stories we all brought to the devotion time, sharing times, working times, and over the dinner table were refreshment to my soul as we experienced through each other how our faithful God is always at work for our good and His glory... Such a spiritually rich time it has been. I thank our gracious Father for allowing me this opportunity.”
“It is a real joy to be serving the Lord at Ridge Haven with other brothers and sisters in Christ. This is our 5th year and we are already looking forward to next year. We feel truly blessed to be serving at Ridge Haven and hopefully look forward to many more years of service”
“I feel a bit sad every time I leave Ridge Haven. I think our time there is a little foretaste of heaven. We are doing work in a beautiful place with our brothers and sisters in Christ and all the while praising God. It is a very worshipful experience.”
