Dining at Ridge Haven

When you think of food at a camp or conference center, what do you think of? Cold cereal? Hot dogs on sort-of-stale bread and maybe a wilted salad for good measure? Your college days and institutional food?

If those are your ideas of food when you plan a conference or send your child to camp at Ridge Haven, you are in for a very pleasant surprise!

We believe that the meal time, and the food served at meal time, is more than just a moment to get off your feet and scarf something down, to rush out the door for bigger and better things. The God who created us gave us the ability to enjoy, to delight in, different flavors, colors, and textures of food. The Ridge Haven dining staff hopes to prepare an opportunity for you to enjoy that ability to the fullest.

An example of a typical breakfast menu follows:

  • Scrambled eggs

  • Bacon

  • Creamy cheese grits

  • Fresh baked biscuits

  • Jam, jelly, butter

  • Oatmeal, brown sugar, raisins

  • Assorted cold cereals

  • Fresh fruit bowl

  • Coffee, orange juice, apple juice

Just for Campers
Our campers are treated "special": they get kid-food for a whole week! Spaghetti, hot-dogs, pizza, hoagie sandwiches, the works! Of course, to appease the Moms and Dads out there, we also serve veggies and salads with their meals, but to make up for it, we give them dessert, too. Good, wholesome food to keep them energized for all the activities, fun and the hard work of learning they will be participate in while they are here.

2007 Camp Menus

Fine Dining
For some of our conferences, and for some of the retreats that we host, a meal of "fine dining" is called for. There are just certain occasions which call for the tables to be set with cloths and cloth napkins, candles and centerpieces, all to give an ambiance to match the truly gourmet meal that will be served. Following is an example of a menu which is available for these occasions:

  • Mixed Greens with orange slices, red onion, almonds, orange vinegrette

  • Orange-glazed Cornish Game Hen

  • Mashed Potatoes

  • Fresh Broccoli

  • Chocolate Decadence: Chocolate mousse layered between chocolate sponge cake, served on strawberry puree, topped with whipped cream

Please Note!

  • The Dining Hall services are only available when we have groups who have requested the facilities. You can make reservations for your group through the Ridge Haven office.

  • Food service for groups 15 - 25 in number assessed a 15% surcharge. Groups 25 - 30 in number assessed a 10% surcharge. A combined total of 30 or more from 2 or more groups will remove the surcharge. All groups of over 30 people must use the Dining Hall services. We also offer special menus at your request. Call for more information.
