Many people not familiar with life in the Ridge Haven community might believe that all there is to do is sit on a porch and rock away the days. They may ask, "What can people do to stay busy?" The answer may be surprising! In addition to church and spiritual opportunities, Ridge Haven residents who are not retired will not only have their employment responsibilities, but the many additional opportunities and requests to help within the Conference Center and attend numerous social events. For those who are officially "retired" from formal employment, Ridge Haven activities include a multitude of volunteer opportunities, such as:

  • Bookstore and camp store clerking
  • Maintenance assistance including carpentry and painting
  • Housekeeping assistance
  • Gardening

In addition to volunteer opportunities, there are:

  • Monthly resident dinners
  • Free attendance at Ridge Haven-sponsored conferences and seminars
  • An annual "Mountain Christmas" celebration
  • Birthday celebrations

Residents can also worship at our local supporting church, Cornerstone Presbyterian, plus go sightseeing on the nearby Blue Ridge Parkway and other scenic areas, including the numerous magnificent waterfalls that abound within an hour's drive.
